Webinar: Unemployment Insurance and the Contingent Academic

Friday May 1, 2020 3:00 PM

Our affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is holding the following webinar Friday, May 1st. Please share widely.

Adjunct and graduate assistant employment is precarious in the best of times. As the COVID 19 health crisis continues, both academic and nonacademic jobs for AFT members are being impacted. Please join us for a webinar Friday, May 1st at 3pm EST/noon PST to inform AFT members of the changes to unemployment insurance as it relates to non-tenure-track faculty and graduate employees.

As concerns grow about summer and fall enrollment our members’ concerns are growing as well. Even with the significant changes in federal and state rules favoring benefit awards to individuals impacted by COVID 19 unemployment insurance (UI) eligibility determinations can be very fact intensive and are done on a case-by-case basis. Changes to UI programs are happening quickly, and states are experiencing an unprecedented volume of applications.

Please join us for a webinar Friday, May 1st at 3pm EST to explore frequently asked questions and discuss the latest updates to the UI system.
