Climate, Jobs, and Justice Recovery Campaign Launch

Wednesday August 19, 2020 12:00 PM

Colleagues,

UUP will join its coalition partners in NY Renews for a virtual rally this week that will launch the “Climate, Jobs, and Justice Recovery” campaign.

The rally will be held at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

I invite you to take part in this rally; which will feature union and community leaders and environmental activists discussing the importance of environmental justice for our communities. I will speak at the rally, along with leaders from organizations such as the New York State Nurses Association, the Communications Workers of America, UPROSE and PUSH Buffalo.

CLICK HERE to register for the virtual rally.

UUP is a longtime coalition member of NY Renews and we have worked together to fight for environmental justice across New York. In 2019, we celebrated approval of the state’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act; UUP member advocacy was essential in getting that important legislation passed.

The public health, financial and social justice crises we all face are intricately linked to the climate crisis. The time is now for New York state to invest in its communities, create green jobs, transition to 100 percent renewable energy, and make polluters pay to provide for a decent, just recovery and a transition to an economy that works for all.

Those initiatives will be addressed in the “Climate, Jobs and Justice Recovery” campaign. Please support this important cause.

Feel free to share this information with your colleagues, family and friends. NY Renews has also compiled a rally tool kit that includes sample social media posts, graphics and emails for you to use on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.

In solidarity,

Fred Kowal, UUP President
