Help UUP hit 10,000 contacts to Congress
Lawmakers pay attention to messages from constituents.
UUP members have heard that advice time and again in the past nine months during tele-town hall meetings with federal and state lawmakers.
So UUP’s goal of having members make 10,000 contacts with their Congressional delegation is an ambitious but attainable—and effective—method for urging Congress to pass President Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package.
UUP President Fred Kowal makes a strong case for swift approval of Biden’s stimulus bill in a new video he recorded earlier this week.

New York—and SUNY—desperately need federal stimulus funding to help rebound from the financial crisis caused by the pandemic. Major news outlets reported Wednesday that the state could receive $23 billion in stimulus aid. Nationally, Biden’s plan could deliver an additional $35 billion to $45 billion to public higher education institutions like SUNY.
Here are three easy ways to reach out to your Congressional representatives.
Send an electronic letter:
As of today, more than 1,630 people have sent letters to their representatives, urging them to approve Biden’s COVID recovery plan. Click HERE to send a letter.
Make phone calls
It’s easy for members to call their Congressional delegation. UUP will provide the phone numbers and the script; members need only provide the energy and commitment. Members can sign up for any shift through Friday, Feb. 19. Click HERE to sign up.
Multiple times are available. If a chapter would like to host a shift, contact UUP’s Strategic Campaigns and Mobilization Coordinator Richard Burton, at rburton@uupmail.org.
Post on social media
Using UUP’s Social Media Toolkit, members can post directly to elected officials and/or encourage colleagues, friends, and family to join phone banks or send e-letters.
“Over the past couple of weeks, we have made thousands of contacts to our Congressional members,” President Kowal wrote in a recent message to members. “We can’t stop now! We must keep the pressure on. Join me and our coalition partners across the state for this urgent and easy action. It is critical to have our members engage in all of these opportunities in the next week.”
