For those members who have Dependent Care Advantage Account UUP was able to negotiate a grace period of 2 ½ months. Members had pre-planned their expenses for 2020 but as with everything else the pandemic changed those plans and members were unable to receive reimbursements through their accounts. This grace period was made possible by members of our chapter voicing their concerns and then those concerns were relayed to the UUP Statewide leadership. So, thank you for participation in this process.
The new deadline is fast approaching for any expenses for reimbursement through your account. Please see the information below.
Dependent Care Advantage Account
A grace period is now available for the 2020 plan year. The grace period provides eligible participants with an additional 2 1/2 months (January 1 to March 15) to incur dependent care expenses for reimbursement from the remaining balance of their 2020 DCAA. The last day to submit DCAA claims is March 31, 2021 for expenses incurred through March 15, 2021. The grace period will allow you to utilize any unused amounts in your DCAA that would normally be forfeited at the end of a plan year. The grace period is applicable for the DCAA only, as long as you had a DCAA as of December 31, 2020.
For those members who have a Health Care Spending Account was also negotiated by UUP to have unspent funds to carryover into 2021. Please see the information below on the Health Care Spending Account.
Health Care Spending Account
A carryover is now available for the 2020 plan year. The carryover provides eligible employees to use up to $500 of monies remaining in their 2020 HCSA toward eligible expenses incurred during the 2021 calendar year. The carryover will allow you to utilize unused amounts in your HCSA that would normally be forfeited at the end of a plan year.
