NYS/UUP Individual Development Awards Program
Allocation for 2017-2018 and 2018–2019
The New York State/United University Professions Joint Labor-Management
Committees (NYS/UUP JLMS) is pleased to announce funding for the Individual
Development Awards (IDA) Program which was negotiated pursuant to Article 21 ,
Statewide Professional Development Committee, of the 2016-2022 Agreement between
New York State and United University Professions.
Allocation of Funds
Funds for the IDA Program are being allocated to Stony Brook in two separate
amounts for two different time periods. The allocation for the period April 1, 2017 to July
1, 2018 should be initially used to fund retroactive projects and activities that occurred
during this period and the other allocation is to fund projects and activities for the period
July 2, 2018 to July 1, 2019. Once the review process is completed and awards have
been made for applications for the retroactive period April 1, 2017 to July 1, 2018, any
unexpended funds may be reallocated for funding projects and activities for the period
July 2, 2018 to July 1, 2019.
April 1, 2017 to July 1, 2018 {Retroactive Period)
• Funds totaling $32,862.93 are being allocated to fund projects and activities that
were completed during this period.
• The Individual Development Awards Program Campus Summary Report for April
1, 2017 to July 1, 2018, which is attached, must be submitted after awards are
made for this period, but not later than July 1, 2019.
July 2, 2018 to July 1, 2019
• Funds totaling $72,955.12 are being allocated to fund projects or activities that
will be completed during this period.
• In addition, any unspent funds for the period April 1, 2017 to July 1, 2018 may be
reallocated to fund projects or activities from July 2, 2018 to July 1, 2019.
• The Individual Development Awards Program Campus Summary Report for July
2, 2018 to July 1, 2019, which is attached, must be submitted after awards are
made for this period, but not later than July 1, 2019. This summary report should
not be combined with the Campus Summary Report for awards made for the
period April 1, 2017 to July 1, 2018.
The IDA Program is intended to assist eligible employees to develop their full
professional potential and to prepare for advancement. Funding may be provided to
enhance teaching, research capabilities, professional knowledge and skills. Funding
may not be awarded to purchase equipment or supplies. Please refer to the NYS/UUP

Part-time Employee Allocation
As you implement the IDA Program on your campus, please note that the Campus
Professional Development Committee must initially dedicate a minimum of 15 percent of
its allocation for awards to part-time employees. If applications from part-time
employees do not amount to 15 percent of the total allocation, then the remainder of
such funds may be reallocated to fund awards for full-time employees.
Application Notification and Reimbursement
• The Campus Professional Development Committee will make every effort to
inform employees of their decision to fund an application by June 1, 2019.
• Awardees should submit their expenses for reimbursement, with receipts and
other required documentation, to the Accounts Payable for reimbursement
within 30 days after completion of their project or activity or notification of the
award, whichever is later.
