Colleagues,

Our colleagues in the SUNY Black Faculty and Staff Collective released an open letter “to draw attention to SUNY’s insufficient and ongoing lack of care and concern for Black lives within and beyond its campuses.” I know that many chapters have already shared this letter widely. The UUP Statewide Executive Board voted this morning to endorse their statement, and we encourage all chapters to share this petition and encourage members to sign-on. I did so when it first came to my attention and I urge you to consider doing so as well.

We have provided a draft email below that chapters may use to share the petition with employees.

Thank you,

Fred

Draft email to be sent at chapter letter:

Colleagues,

Our colleagues in the SUNY Black Faculty and Staff Collective released an open letter “to draw attention to SUNY’s insufficient and ongoing lack of care and concern for Black lives within and beyond its campuses.” UUP stands with our black colleagues in support of this important effort. We encourage all members to read the petition and sign on here.

Thank you for joining us in the fight to end systemic racism across our society, and the need to have SUNY take the lead in this important work.

In solidarity,
