Our chapter – in conjunction with the SBU Labor Council and in close consultation with UUP Statewide – is organizing an informational rally at 12pm on Wed, Nov 17th. The rally will take place at the fountain by the Administration Building (b/w Humanities and the Staller steps).
Our chapter will be giving out donuts and hot chocolate at the rally. Also, UUP members who attend will be eligible to enter a raffle to win a Visa gift card. Lots of reasons to come out and support our campus labor unions!
What is the purpose of the rally?
The SBU Labor Council – which consists of CSEA, GSEU, UUP HSC, and our UUP chapter – is bringing the four unions together to hear members’ stories, learn about the issues our different chapters are facing, and build support for ongoing and upcoming contract negotiations. Our hope is that the rally will encourage folks to get more involved in the negotiations process and in advocating for more state support for SUNY.
Note: This rally is not negatively targeting the administration for any specific grievances. The SBU Labor Council will close the rally by expressing how much chapter leaders look forward to discussing these important issues during their upcoming meetings with management.
